Just a guess' my foot...that was an amazing call!! Why did you suspect the virus checker in mobo? If I may ask.

I was reading an ASUS P2B-F mobo manual..bios page..that's where I go first. They mentioned something about turning off the virus checker while doing something..don't remember what. It got me thinking. I think Spots had the essential clue/analysis..some kind of error message at boot. PM and DI play it close to the core..they probably look at the MBR..they probably know what they are looking at too..I do not understand the MBR...all I know is you do not want to mess it up<g>

In general I am not big on virus checkers..IMO they get into places they do not belong.
