Also to consider:

Just saw this on my internet update. Although this test is being done with Roadrunner, can ATHM be far behind, and might ATT's technology for encoding be attractive to these music companies??

Major music labels will test online sales

The world's five major recording companies said they will test
album sales over the Internet. Sony (SNE), Time Warner (TWX),
Seagram's Universal, EMI Group and Bertelsmann Music Group said
they will test a system developed by IBM which would let users buy
a digital version of an album, download it and record it on tape
or mini-disc. The test will include 1,000 subscribers to Time
Warner's Roadrunner high-speed cable modem Internet access
service. The IBM process will embed a "digital watermark" on the
file, and will be encrypted so only the buyer can play it, The New
York Times reported.
