Point well taken Bretsky, but your following statement says a lot about the state of the internet stocks:

>>The mere 5 shares of AMZN I bought are pure high risk speculation. I was just getting sick of losing by not joining the game.<<

How many other people bought AMZN or other net stocks for the same reason. Nothing to do with fundamentals, nothing to do with prospects for growth, everything to do with momentum. You were prudent in only buying 5 shares, but I'm sure there's more than just a few lemmings out there who bought plenty more for the same reason you said you did.

Looks like another tough day ahead for Yahoo and the net stocks.

I'm starting to develop the view that with NET stocks future speculation is more important.

Hi Bretsky-

I encourage you, if you are truly establishing long-term positions in (apparently) solid companies such as MSFT and INTC, to take the plunge whenever you are comfortable with it. It's difficult to realize that these stocks can appear overvalued every day of the year, so you have to choose a time/price and go ahead with it (knowing that you can't pick the bottom). I hesitated on MSFT because they were near their then-high of 87. That gives me a split-adjusted price of 43.5 on the first shares I bought. I've added to that position a couple times since, and hope to buy more soon.
