Italiana:

How many shares of Etrade do you own and at what price? I agree with you that Etrade typically provides fine service but when they screw up, they REALLY screw up. Granted, I think day traders typically get more frustrated with them since they tend to trade more often. As for Etrade being "like clockwork" I agree completely! The problem is sometimes to clock breaks completely, or reports the wrong time, or simply stops and then starts up again, etc. They are improving certainly but surely all of the complaints they are getting indicate a fundamental problem that needs to be resolved. I am not short Etrade, but I am not long either. Still I am a Power Etrade user and think that if they could just get some of these issues resolved they really have a reasonable chance of claiming the #1 spot is five years or so.

Italiana, I have had market orders take 6 minutes, and etrade still will not give me the trade at or near market. Here are my current two complaints with ETRADE.

All times EST

1) On Dec 24th I sold SKYM with a market order at 9:45 and the bid was 12 1/8. Etrade gave me the sale at 9:51, 6 minutes later, at a price of 9 1/4. SIX MINUTES FOR A MARKET ORDER!!!. They have refused to give me the correct price.

2) On Feb 4th I sold MHMY with a market order at 10:02 and the bid was 19. I have a witness, one of my co-workers who heard me say I was about to double my money. He came by my desk and was here when I made the sale. Etrade lost the sale. I tried to contact them, but all phones were busy. I finally got through and was told to write to Service2@etrade.com. Etrade has agreed to give me the price of the stock when they received the email (14 1/2) but will not give me the trade they lost.

If they are not resolved by end of day today, I am sending all documentation to the Kansas Attorney General. All I want is for Etrade to be fair. I am sure they believe there is nothing their customers can do. Maybe they are right, but I will try if they do not make these complaints right.
