Dan - If anyone actually believed VLSI would only earn .21 this year and .60 next, then they shouldn't buy this stock. I guess some people do, and that's why it's priced where it is! Personally I look for at least $1 this year, and well over $2 next year, if they're still around. This is based on modest revenue growth (15-20%) and sales margins getting back to where they were in Q3-4 97 based on higher demand and a stronger product mix. (Earnings exclusive of one-time gains were .42 in 97-3 and .45 in 97-4)

Patrick - Ericsson is ramping up new handset models, and VLSI has silicon designed into every phone. Also Panasonic, Samsung, and others are becoming major customers. VLSI's fab is operating close to capacity, and they are expanding to meet increased forecasted demand.
