I saw the NBR report on the Oil Drillers from their series Best Investment Ideas for 1999. Mostly a rehash of the last year. Analyst quoted as saying that there was no way of it getting worse since Oil was at historic lows. It had the CEO of RIG saying that he was well positioned to weather another 12-18 mos. of tough oil prices but that the circumstances that will bring oil prices back up are unpredictable and sudden, and he is confident that it will happen. I don't recall all the stocks that were recommended, but RIG and SLB definitely were on the list.
