Paul,

Actually, Intel has a plant in Dupont, Washington, - so you couldn't be mistaken, could you?

DuPont is about 15 miles east of Olympia on I-5. There is almost no housing in DuPont, so employees have a choice of living towards Tacoma, or in Olympia. Would you live in Tacoma?

A year ago, the official Intel line was that they were adding 6,000 jobs. Instead, they laid off quite a few. There was considerable infrastructure built by the State of Washington to support DuPont.

In addition, the real estate market in Olympia took a 180 degree turn when Intel changed it's plans. A lot of Intel employees are sitting on devalued property.
