Speaking of sector funds, I notice that my best performing mutual fund this year, by far, is Warbug Pincus Japan Small Company Fund. Up over 10% so far this year. I bought in last year to get exposure to what I believed was a very, very undervalued sector. Also, a play on a possible bounce in Japan economy, and research that shows that small companies go up the most after the end of a recession and when a long time down turn in the market finally turns up. As we all know, Japan's has lasted for 10 years or so. The only other mutual fund that invests exclusively in Japanese small companies that I know of is Fidelity Japan Small Company Fund (up 12% so far this year) though there could be others. I don't generally invest in mutual funds, by the way, as I by far prefer individual stocks. But I do use them for foreign stock exposure, since I don't have access to information, or the time or inclination, to research most Foreign stocks.

I'll be darned. Looks like one of the larger SI personalities has taken a fall--and I'm sure many of us has seen his postings at one place or another here. Ga Bard takes a fall, and it is written up on February 24th's Wall Street Journal.

On Another Topic: I am now on Session 14 on the CFA curriculum, out of a specified 18-Session curriculum. I'm about two months ahead of schedule, which will give me plenty of time to iron out many of the wrinkles that are sure to be present given my pace of studies. The test is in June. I must say, the Body of Knowledge the program covers is fascinating.

Can't wait to be back. Thanks for your patience.
