Latency was a big deal when you wrote this

I should have been more specific in my last post. I can see how I created confusion.

DRAM latency is the limiting factor in system performance for apps like Winstone.

I should have said the relatively small "difference" in latency between different DRAM types is of little consequence. 100 clocks SDRAM vs. 105 clocks RDRAM both overwhelm the 1-3 clock latencies of the L1.
