Needle Gets Closer to the Internet Stock Bubble: John Dorfman

The Internet stocks were by no means the only reason growth beat value last year. Microsoft Corp., Lucent Technologies Inc., General Electric Co., Cisco Systems Inc. and many other big-cap growth stocks that weren't Internet stocks (though many of them have ties to the Internet) did well.

However, it seems to me that the Internet stocks were the ''point'' stocks for last year's market. If they fall -- if the bubble bursts -- the entire market will probably decline, and become much less speculative for a period of months, if not years. --John Dorfman (617) 964-2026 through the New York newsroom
