After speaking with my friend last night (and without having a photo), he thinks to all probability that the bottle you have is known as a torpedo soda. Most have rounded, convex bottoms, but according to him some have spiked bottoms. The bottle is more than likely an English bottle and probably worth about what you paid for it. However, if it turns out to be an American made bottle (one would need a serious collector of this type of bottle to determine such) it could fetch a price well in excess of the price you paid for it.
