KJ,

Thank you for your comments on MIBs and public/private loops. While I remember seeing these topics discussed months ago, I had no appreciation for the impact. Any additional comments you or anyone else has on this topic will mean at least a little more to me now.

Greg

Every switch vendor who wants to sell switches needs this mode, it's called "Private Loop", or "Stealth Mode". ANCR does it too, and they are ALL non standard because ANSI never could vote on these things without a great deal of partisanship..sound familiar....they simply cannot go

<<<10. Brocade has a translative mode that creates a pseudo WW Name for loops that do not
support Fabric Login. This allows the private loop to function as a public loop.>>>

This is what I meant 'NON-STANDARD' type of function. While it provides private
devices(legacy type) more flexibility, it defies the FC standard which in turn may impeach the FC
alliances' ability of assigning representitive 'MIBs' under certain conditions. I appreciate and
applaud your quest in educating yourself and the board of these important issues.
