We all know how reluctant GUMM is about making sales forecasts/projections. This is understandable given the prior CEO's track record and MO. However, I did ask Brown Russell directly about a "rough guess" about where gum sales volume might range in 1999 since I believe that SUBSTANTIAL growth was the quid pro quo for profit. (duh) While as reluctant as always to provide any estimates, he did refer me to Dave Rich at GunnAllen and their soon-to-be published estimates on sales levels. I called Dave and he emailed me their sales forecasts just as they were being posted. Brown had told me that GUMM was "very comfortable" with these sales estimates. That's as close as I ever got to something beyond the stockholders meeting and the CFO's comments that profitability would be reached in either 4thQ, 1stQ at the latest. The stockholders meeting was in July98 and this discussion with Brown and Dave was in October98. I thought I'd add these comments to the mix for background commentary.
