Frank,
I seriously doubt I'll ever find out what went wrong. Customer service is terrible with Time Warner/Roadrunner. But what else is new. I not only had problems with SI(timed out 95% of the time), but also logging onto AOLnet via a TCP/IP hookup through RR(timed out 60% of the time). I called AOL and they blamed it on RR. I called RR and they blamed it on AOL. This is about the state of the art responses to everything nowadays. Consumer gets beat up badly in our new techno world. I don't think I will ever find out why it happened.

But I do have to say, for one brief shining hour (about a week ago), the speed was simply fantastic! I've had the cable modem for a year now with so-so results. But for that one brief shining hour, I could see the real potential of what HFC network allows! It was just amazing how fast it was. In literally a blink of the eye, the entire web pages of every national and international newspaper, I have bookmarked, was on my screen. It's hard to explain what a difference RELIABLE bandwidth can make to those who have not experienced it.

Just that one hour, really made me understand the future potential of the HFC network. Just imagine flipping through web pages as fast as you can change channels on TV! Imagine the applications the Internet will bring to hundreds of millions of people. But I bet that type of reliability (24 x 7) is at least 5 years off.
