Average decline is 18.0% - including AMZN and YHOO... Ex-these two volatile Net stocks, average is 13.7%. Typically, big (non-Net) names will fall between 15% and 20% before bargain hunters step back in aggressively... AMZN and YHOO more likely to fall by between 40%-50% before attracting bargain shoppers.

Computer Systems & Peripherals

Institutional dumping began in earnest in the last half hour of Tuesday's trading, as a number of stocks broke down badly into the close... Among them were Dell (DELL 97 13/16 - 6 1/4), Sun Microsystems (SUNW 97 5/8 - 6 7/8) and IBM (IBM 162 3/8 - 4 5/8)... If big investors continue heading for the sidelines for fear of another tech meltdown, the once invincible group leaders will feel the pinch.
