actually from their end it (the phone line(s)) wasn't busy signals. They were busy talking to people. I used to work at a customer support site (not etrade) and can attest to that. When it gets real busy, you just spend all your time answering calls. You cannot tell that the lines are busied out.

Incidently if you encounter a busy sig you can always call your operator and ask for a forced interuption to the number but it costs a couple of bucks and it terminates someone else's call. the operator will step in and just break the connection.

But if its any help. I own no shares of schwab. but my brokerage is schwab. They are pretty decent. But I do own a ton of ETRADE shares.
