"They inked this deal several months ago and now I think they're ramping up..... This is the first thing that I have seen to actually do it.....I discount the possibility of it happening, unless the IP over DWDM initiative starts to get traction."

Doughboy,
Thanks for your response. Your analysis is very similar to mine and that is how I'm playing my CIEN investment. I knew when CIEN cratered down to 8 or 9, that it was a screaming buy. The Tellabs people sure seem like smart guys to me. I couldn't imagine them willing to pay $80/share for CIEN unless there was something valuable there in terms of technology(not just customers). So I bought some (all the way to the bottom), then waited for some good news. I didn't care what it was. All I knew that all the bad news was probably out.

The good news must of happened when the CIEN/CSCO rumors started to pan out. So I sold half my position at that point. I'm still hanging on to my other half on pure speculation that CIEN will be bought by someone soon. Sounds like the IP/DWDM progress CIEN is making will be very valuable to someone.
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
