I have repeatedly said that if the prosecutors have done anything wrong they should be sanctioned. But I believe that in all trials, substantive evidence should not be excluded because of misconduct by the police or prosecutor, so I am perfectly consistent in saying that even if the charges were proven, they are irrelevant.

Thomas, I understand your point, of course. The "substantive debate" here is ridiculous, and I'm out of here when the final vote comes down. No predictions on that, either, in terms of the final vote, but the result is a foregone conclusion. I hope the smugly moral superior types keep pushing the "you're stupid, and we're not" all the way up to the next election, but that's their choice. I expect that at least in this august forum, the baying hounds of politics as a blood sport will not be phased in the least.
