Pete,
RIG - in case you didn't see it, yesterday (or the day before) on the trading-idea's negative money flow page RIG was listed as one with a net out flow. I remember the net sellers have been the institutions (from the large block activity). Therefore, either they know something better or just that the pessimism has finally caught up with them. I think it is a good idea to avoid stocks listed on that page.

Other than that, my take on the drillers is negative as I have laid out in many previous posts. For short term trades one will be able to catch some profits because there will be bounces. For longer terms things can get a lot worse still. Basically many in-the-know have written off 1999 as the year for an oil recovery. I have strong reasons to believe they are right. In fact, I think it is more profitable to trade the drillers on the short sides than on the long side. I'm staying off them for now in either direction though. If your case, if you want to ride out this down cycle you may want to write Feb 25 put and earn some premium while they last, just a thought.

Regarding Slider - he has been off his medication lately so his fragile state is understandable.
