Right, '87, not '88.

I followed the market go down, down, down that day on a PBS radio station out of Boston while sitting at the kitchen table working on a paper. The market's dive was the big news for the day but it did not cancel regular programming (music). Also, market commentary was purely factual, zero hype. I didn't even call my broker at ML that day--or the next few for that matter.

BTW, the ***only*** person I personally knew who sold anything was a colleague who had just invested for the first time [an inheritance he received]. Despite his broker's pleading with him the next day, he dumped everything. In retropsect, he says this was by far the stupidest investment move he has ever made.
