There are a number of moral and ethical issues over which the government has control. Are you saying the Democrats are advocating euthanasia on demand, drug use on demand, prostitution, etc.? These are also areas in which personal choice is restricted. At least in the case of abortion, there is always the option to put up the child for adoption. As far as prayer in schools, I don't believe the RR is advocating mandatory prayer but the freedom to conduct prayers in school. Why should there be a problem with this as long as students be allowed a separate area, such as an auditorium, for prayer? Muslims pray several times a day. Why have a problem with it as long as it done with respect for other people who wish to not participate? It's okay even though I'm not Christian as long as they don't disseminate materials to try to solicit converts IMO.

As I said, if the conservatives are right about abortion, than it should not be permitted, certainly in most circumstances. In other words, it idle to forego debate by decrying the position as "intrusive". As for schools, few conservatives are for mandatory prayers, if what you mean is forcing people to pray. Even many evangelicals would not support that. Many conservatives, however, are against allowing the minority to veto traditional benedictions at commencement exercises, and such. They don't have to pray, and the majority deserves consideration sometimes.

The GOP does not advocate mandatory prayer in schools. Some GOP'ers advocate VOLUNTARY prayer in schools. Dipshit. JLA

Wow dipy. You are scaring me. I sure am glad to have met the lucky women in my life time that got to "not have abortions" without being forced. Uh oh here comes a cop, is he going to force me to not have an abortion? I don't know. Does it matter that I am a man and never been pregnant. Oh yea, I'm using dipy's imagination. Maybe they will knock me down and force me not to have an abortion while praying. I better run! AYYEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
