I ignored the jibe earlier, but since it is regurgitated...Hitchens is a self- described Leftist who rights on politics for a Leftist magazine. I have actually been to the house of the heiress who provides a lot of the funding for the magazine, Cora Weiss. Her husband and I are alumni of the same college. She is very nice, but she is one of the few people I have ever heard lament the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the subsequent death of the GDR. Anyway, I kind of like Hitchens, I was merely trying to locate him politically.

This from the last paragraph of Alexander Cockburn's March 8 Nation column, casting Christopher Hitchens as Judas:

In his frantic adherence to the crusade of Starr and the House managers, [Hitchens] has mangled the facts, traduced his friend and now whines that he, somehow, is the victim. Next, it seems, we can look forward to a self-serving Hitchens column, remunerated at a level far in excess of thirty pieces of silver, in Vanity Fair. It's a dejecting spectacle.

The above column is actually a toned-down version (but with specific factual rebuttal of Hitchens' claims) of the brutal denunciation to be found here:
