There's a lot of different 2001 LEAPS, with different strike prices. Remember that with LEAPS you are increasing your volatility, such that if the stock goes up, you make a higher percentage gain, and if the stock goes down you loose a larger percentage. The nice thing about LEAPS is that the time premium doesn't decay that fast. That said, it is definately a good idea to buy some LEAPS on DELL when it takes a 30+% dip. For example, I just bought some Jan 2001 90 LEAPS at $23 per contract a couple months ago (when DELL was in the high 70's I think), those are now worth around $44 -- a gain of 91% as the stock has gained something like 26%. Likewise I bought some ASND 2000 30 LEAPS when ASND was at around $28 -- I made 614%. Good luck. Oh, and try the Dreyfus Brokerage Services page to look for the LEAP bid/asks etc.
