As I have said earlier, I am an Indian citizen and hence do not comment about US Govt. policies.

But speaking of public education in India, I went to a private school myself and my parents were very closely associated with my education. However, they could afford it financially and otherwise (as they were both professors themselves) which several of my childhood friends' parents couldn't. Hence I appreciate the need for public schools which co-exist with private ones in India.
