The downturn in the Republican Party is temporary and bottoming out IMHO. We're suffering from a.)bad publicity brought on by Newt and
greatly enhanced (spun) by liberal media b.)The slickest (willy) President ever (he makes Ronny look tong tied) c.)the most liberal media in history.

It's so easy for Clinton to get on his podium and make a feel good
speach, promising to solve everyones problem. There is no direct
connect to what he is saying and what it will cause those listening.
The problem hear is that I think we are becoming such a poorly
educated country that the vast majority of people have no idea of the
ills that an all Clinton/Dem agenda will bring upon us in the long
run.

With Geo.Bush Jr., Elizabeth Dole and other young up and comers gaining more prominency. I have faith in the old Elephant for the
long haul. Of course there are issues that I, and I'm sure many,
take exception to. I'm much more pro-environment than most GOP
constituents for example. But the liberals will lead us to a downfall. Witness the growing liberalism (socialism) in Europe.

Thurston agrees with you, all except that supporting the president part. Thurston loves women and will not support any man who treats them like that guy did.

Thurston thinks that all Democrats in the House and Senate will increase the price of those little green olives I love in my Martini. This would be very bad and would force me to consider citizenship in another land.

Jack Kemp and Bill Bennent were against proposal 187 and the party punished them for several years on that one. Then Kemp lost (yes LOST) a debate to Al Gore and pretty much ended his political career.

BushyJ (Thats Junior) gets along with all peoples and seems to have strong cross cultural support. He might be a good pick for the big office.

Good Luck

It's not so much that the republicans "turned on immigrants", it's just the reality that this country will become a "madhouse" if we keep letting too many people in. Think of the strain on the environment, the highway system, water supplies, etc, etc, etc.
The "open door" policy was once a major positive force for this country when it was young and growing, but now, there are enough people around the world who want to come here that we would sink like an overloaded ship! (and still may) Yogi
