If you trade at schwab, you can usually get them by calling at 5:30am EST and putting your name on a list (this is when they'll start the list)

Remember, if you're serious about shorting this stock - when you cover, be sure to box the short, and not flatten it out. This way, you'll be able to easily short again without going through the hassle of finding shares to borrow. In the event it spikes because of a squeeze, you just need to dump the long side of the box to go short again.

Having said that, I really doubt we'll see EBAY go below 150. I can assure you that traders and analysts are closely watching the auction count, and the combination of awesome revenues, a split, and a few upgrades or positive comments will cause ebay to spike again. It appears that the auction growth will be between 60-75% this quarter. As Doug Flower has noted, this maps into a fairly direct translation to revenue growth. The short window is starting to close - I wouldn't take a short too far into march, because the insiders will likely be done with any selling probably by mid to late february. My guess is that the public float will increase to 6-8 million this quarter. This won't be enough to dilute the increased interest resulting from a company growing at 50%+ sequentially per quarter.

Too many shorts think they can beat a hi-profile, hi-growth company because the multiples are ridiculous. They are absolutely right on EBAY multiples, but I wouldn't take too many chances with EBAY until it's clear the auction growth rate is declining. Until that happens, there's nothing but good news on the horizon, leading to continued inflated prices. I actually plan to pick some up if it goes as low as 160, depending on what the overall market conditions are. My guess is that we'll see a big run again if the company grows as much as the numbers are suggesting.
