Fully agree with the observation that the TechData spin is bogus and purely coincidental as they are getting creamed by Compaq's move into Direct Sales. Prosignia line is doing great and distributors are losing that part of corporate business.

>"Your stock is on sale, buy some"<

A concise anti-anxiety post with logic. Brother could you spare a dime. I usually take my analgesics in doses of two, however.

1-21-99-"Post your alternative scenario without the snide comments, cite numbers and facts, tell us how you got them so we can judge whether or not they might be biased and let the people decide."

Thanks, I think your post fits.

Mr. Fun: Excellent Report! Very factual, and obviously one knowledgeable in the "Engineering" aspects of 3com and the Networking Sector. The Market has spoken! Back to the basics...fundamentals have always been what drives the market to a greater extent. It is the "Hard Data" that counts the most...hype does have its place...I don't deny that, but it is the bottom line that counts the most! Yet...it is the difference of opinions that will make some very healthy, and others less profitable. I agree with you...at these prices...3com is "on sale" and a terrific bargain!

HK

Mr. Fun,

I agree on all your points. These are things I've tried
to answer for myself. It is good to hear what you've said
since you seem to have excellent access to quality information.
Thanks for contributing what you are able to.

Couple of comments/questions if I may:

1) DLJ analyst only revised estimate by 2 cents and didn't
downgrade, so why would he be seen as pitching gloom and
doom, and mostly how would he justify this type of stock
action on minor adjustments? (I imagine he doesn't, but possibly
knew that this might be the result?)

2) Are you saying that the the doom and gloomers are in
disagreement with points 2, 3, and 4? Disagreement with
one doesn't seem to amount to much if DLJ only adjusted by
2 cents, and you said yourself, that the long-term visibility
is seen as strong.

3) Could it be that long-term visibilty is being questioned?

4) Do other analysts believe that PC sales have been slower
and therefore this is what is really driving the doom and
gloomers?

5) I think I remember Gruntal as supporting the stock?
They don't count?

6) How do you explain this extreme drop? Are the doom and
gloomers that pessimistic to justify this type of a drop?

7) If you think the quarter will turn out fine, is there
anything you would suggest that can be done by someone
to alleviate the fear?
