billwot,

Sonny-Well, I think my observation is correct: the thread activity goes up with a down market, and down with an up market!

We do think of it as a place we can go to reinforce our buy-and-hold strategy, so it's not altogether surprising. I like it here even when INTC goes up!

Good buys on CSCO and AOL. Congrats.

billwot. Sometimes when it is a down day I keep hollering to get the crowd out and talk about what's going on since I am sure that a lot of you are in shock then. I generally don't change my investing style no matter what the market does. I do some trades here and there to pay for my margin expenses and buy some stock when I have available moolah or margin.

On an up day most everyone is at peace and we can rest a bit.

But I have to say: It feels a lot better when the market ends up.

I had quite a few stocks in the red. I am still holding some of those smaller internet stocks and EDS and UIS were down also today. And I own some Coms in my IRA which was down. Don't you own Dell? It was in the red.

I don't see why AOL should not be a good stock for the future. But it will rise and fall at times with the internet stocks. I heard today somebody saying that he likes AOL but would like to pick it up cheaper. I hope he does not get that chance. AMTD and AOL are close to their split day on the 22nd. But we may not be out of the woods yet when you listen to the talking heads. If I had the say so I would say that there is no reason at this time for the market to go down. We are in the same boat again like many times before. We can buy cheap stocks and wait a long time for them to move, go into bonds or money markets and take what we can get there. Or we can lose some capital at times and wait for the market to go up again or pay the tax man and then have less money to buy stocks back cheaper. I think I know what is more profitable in the long term.
