Hi Russ,

I really haven't thought about that Russ. Blow out and control well insurance coverage normally provides for the coverage of all costs to get the well under control and then to provide a replacement well in approximately the same location \ status as was the original well. Of course there are "limits" and exclusions. I've never had to read my own policy very closely (Thank God) so I can not tell you for sure. My own guess is that the loss is not covered but that's only a guess on my part. Perhaps someone else can comment. Check, where are you (and your good learned friend !!) ??

I can tell you that in the case of this particular blowout, there could be some difficulty\dispute in arriving at a $$ value for the lost production. The well blew out of control for about 3 weeks at rates that were only estimated by visual observations and those estimates were "large"!! Thereafter, the measurements are not real accurate, either. They're only stadium measurements (i.e. in the ballpark!!).

Later,
