Hi, unclewest - since you invited my comments...

Intel signed up with Rambus in November, 1966. Thus, at that time, they had all the technical DD done, and had dismissed the alternatives of doing an equivalent job in-house.

That Intel and all the other players have SLDRAM/DDR backup plans is only common sense. But RDRAM is the only game in town as far as making practical computers from 800MHz and up, which address the memory-CPU transfer bottleneck.

This is a major technology step and implementation glitches are inevitable. Personally, I am satisfied that one of the greatest companies in the world, Intel, that has addressed and surmounted many such hurdles in the past, is fully committed to RDRAM (out of pure self interest).

Frankly, I just can't see how a RMBS stock price of $70 or $110 matters beans at this stage. Every decline is a golden opportunity to accumulate more - unless one is paralyzed by the pointless quest to pinpoint the absolute bottom. There - I got that off my chest!

Regards - Bernard
