AMERICA ONLINE INC shook hands with Columbia House on a multiyear,
multimillion deal to market the oldest record club in the industry for online and
off-line promotions. Under the multiyear agreement, Columbia House, with more
than 13 mln club members, will promote its music, video and DVD clubs in AOL's
Shopping Channel, as well as on AOL.COM, CompuServe, Digital City and
Entertainment Asylum. Columbia House is jointly owned by SONY CORP. and
TIME WARNER INC HOLDING CO's Warner Music. As part of the
co-marketing pact, Columbia House will offer options enabling members to
request AOL software and will distribute the software in its product fulfillment
mailings. It has guaranteed AOL a minimum number of new memberships.
