Why would any business interested in getting up and running on an ebill system chose to negotiate with a service (TP) which only offers them a pilot to begin in June when they can get the real thing up and running real time by then (CKFR)? Doesn't make any sense, does it!!!
The answer may lie in Pete K's answer to a question I asked in Key Largo about Canadian and other foreign banks. I can't find my notes, but here is my recollection, I hope its right. He said 1)they have all the business potential they need right here in the good ole USA, and 2)foreign countries have entirely different systems that aren't easily compatible with our US systems.
Maybe it would cost more to rejigger or add to Genesis than it is worth right now. If I'm wrong, I hope Checkfree realizes the enormous PR coup potential of playing hardball in this negotiation and winning this business. Its about time for TrashPoint to be hoisted on its own petard -- one of these days, these contract announcements by them which are just negotiations should be followed up by Checkfree winning the business, showing up these fakirs for the sham that they am. If I were Checkfree this would be a priority. It would help win a lot of future business as potential customers realize by such action who has it and who doesn't, to say nothing of the increased credibility it would give to both management and the stock.

>>My bet is that they'll be lucky at best to have the pilot runing by end of '99. JMSO.

Your right: BCE Emergis article in Montreal gazette 4feb states" Full production begins in 2000".

This win wraps up in my estimation at least 60% of the Canadian market(4 National Banks plus other financials) in 1 contract-amazing. There are only 2 National banks left BMO+Scotia plus a few regional banks credit unions etc. The 2 remaining banks will go it on there own- I think its BMO's.
