Funny you should ask, because I was very interested in researching and designing DSP's back in college.

Anyway, I don't much about any potential marriage between the processor and the DSP. I thought Intel tried back then with the native signal processing (NSP) initiative, but I guess that effort fizzled. Plus, I suspect that the design of a typical DSP and a typical processor is just way too different to try and integrate.
