The key to me is the volume; to the best of my knowledge dell has led the nasdaq for the past 3 days. Today 37M shares traded, with second place going to csco at only 20M. I think most of the volume is churn from the daytraders offsetting the upward bias from the momentum players who have been streaming in. Dell is a core holding for any aggressive growth fund, and even if they decided to take profits, they wouldn't do it with 15-20 points left in the earnings run up.

Don't worry about this scenario; the trend is your friend - participate in it.

Hi Dave,

This thread has always been home to many bulls, and rightfully so. Dell has been a stellar performer, and its loyal shareholders have been richly rewarded.

I think the current behavior of the stock can be attributed to the recent correction in the Tech sector, and last quarter's earnings report. I felt that Dell's last earnings report was excellent as usual. However, many investors were somewhat disappointed and this disappointment has carried over to this quarter. Perhaps many are no longer viewing Dell's reports as "an automatic"(ala MSFT) and are taking a wait and see position. Whatever the case may be, I believe this quarter's report will not leave anyone disappointed, except the shorts.

Good luck

Kevin

David,

Well said. It is evident that you are one of the select few on this thread that has a level head. Keep up the good posts. Maybe some of the "day dreamers" on this thread will get a clue and wake up.

>>It doesn't help that Dell's relative strength seems to be slacking off. I watch Dell's intraday action and it does not appear to have the oomph it had just last week. Kind of odd considering earnings are coming up and expectations are so high. You would think it would be rallying here in anticipation of strong earnings.<<

David, I too have been noticing a disappointing movement in the stock of Dell. I do not think that too many folks on this thread are paying attention to the sell off or considering why. I am troubled by this and today in Europe shares of Dell fell almost 2 % in early trading. Dell should be moving up in anticipation of earnings. You are right in that there is too much optimisim on this thread which may be blind sighted. I hope this stock is not going to get torpedoed in the next few days. It is bad enough to have a major tech sell off without problems with Dell.

Frank

I agree. you made a very good point . this market (Dell Csco and Yhoo)reversed too fast and too much. I think market has not completed the winter correction. best bet.
