New Era Networks Sees Topping Analysts' 1999 Views
NEW YORK (Reuters) - New Era of Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:NEON - news), a fast-growing maker of software used to shuttle data between corporate databases, is confident the company can beat expectations that it will roughly double revenues and earnings this year, Chief Financial Officer Steve Webb said Friday.

Analysts expect revenues to grow to around $118 million to $120 million this year, up from $66 million in 1998 for New Era, or NEON as it is known by investors and the corporate computer managers who are lining up to buy its software.

NEON earnings are expected to double to 47 cents a share from 23 cents in 1998, he said.

''We think there is significant upside to those estimates,'' Webb told Reuters, referring to the potential to beat both current revenues and earnings expectations for 1999.

The chief financial officer of the Englewood, Colo.-based company was interviewed in New York following a presentation to fund managers attending the final day of the weeklong Goldman Sachs Technology Symposium.

NEON's blue-chip list of corporate customers use its software to gain control over the ''information spaghetti'' that occurs when companies attempt to pull information out databases and stuff into other, incompatible office computer systems. Demand for NEON products is fueled by the rising tide of mergers and acquisitions, and as firms gear up for electronic commerce with suppliers, business partners and customers.

Take your profits Geotrader. But I'll bet you you get in again at a price inflated from whenst you sold. This indeed has a high p/e about 165 I figure but thats at -.38 earnings. ITS making money and people are in lines trying to buy their product which is unparrelled in its niche. Okay, call me stupid, but I smell a good investment here. Have for sometime now. Smells like a winner. Sure, there will be dips but I for one am content to watch this sucker grow!!!!TKB
