What Microsoft Could Have Said At The Trial: When Boies asked why Microsoft signed the exclusive contracts and asked whether or not it was because they were afriad of a head-to-head comparison with Netscape, the witness could have answered thusly: "We are not afraid of a head-to-head comparison. However, Netscape had such a branding advantage over us in the browser market that we were afraid that the users would just choose Netscape's product without even giving our browser a chance. We were the underdog, after all." That would have stopped Boies for at least a minute, I think. Geez, Microsoft should have put me on the stand.
