>For me, the record-keeping that E*Trade provides on line, and the accessibility of research information is very useful. They have always completed my trades quickly and accurately, and have been responsive to my emails. The commission structure is okay, and products offered are complete (for my purposes). What more could I want?

In my experience, E*trade's record keeping is superb. Personally, I'm more concerned with accuracy of the records than I am with the timing of executions and all the rest. I think in the 5 years I've been with E*trade there might have been one or two glitches in their records of my account, but when I pointed it out to them they quickly fixed it.

So it seems to me, and as you suggest, their reasonable commission structure relative to what is normally an accurate and convenient system is what keeps me an E*trade customer. The thing that would make me switch brokers quicker than anything else, would be if they made frequent foul-ups in the record-keeping department. I hear some other brokers have a real problem in that area.

I think that before switching brokers, one needs to look carefully at the overall package, or product mix, as it relates to one's investment requirements, and compared to the overall package offered by any competing brokers.

Basically, I'm a very satisfied E*trade customer and agree with your assessment of their record-keeping, both online and offline. I would like to see them promote to a greater extent, the accuracy and convenience of their online record-keeping system.

>It's not so much the frequency, but the price sensitivity.

Absolutely! Thanks for pointing that out.
