--I think I agree with you, it's pretty amazing to see the theory of efficient markets slowly moving from the textbooks to real-life (as it pertains to INFORMATION, that is, and not necessarily "fair" pricing of stocks in the short run).

That said, I think your statements hold true, that is, until the BIG ONE rolls around. Nothing like a good, 20-30% broad-market correction over a mere 3-5 days to send folks running to the hills after they get margin called up the wazoo...The long-term effects of combining easy credit and easy trading is lethal, IMO.

There's something to be said about Tulipmania -- it just sometimes takes an excrutiatingly long time to play out. IMHO, all one can hope for is to resist the "greed" temptation, which implies that you're hopefully way over your average cost if/when the big one finally happens...
