Re: EAST... I worry about that with my trade too... Dreyfus was able to short EAST in under a minute. This worried me. Too easy. I've closed the trade for a nice profit and hope they don't come back later to take it all away. You'd think that these firms could get their computers and stock inventory lined up to automatically inform a trader as to where they stand with a trade: * not enough trading power; * no shares to borrow; * not marginable; can't sell stock, none in your account; Dreyfus has some of these messages. They show "UPC" in the quote window when an issue is restricted from shorting. If I try to sell shares I don't own because I checked "margin" instead of "short", they block the trade. Someday, it will all be easy....
