He is not connected to Astoria. As for White Rock, Soros Management is broken into many sub managers. The current Soros holdings are not considered group holdings in CCUR. That means White Rock and Soros would have to file as a group. They have not so that means they are here for their own reasons. Soros management (not actually George, but some manager who files under their umbrella) bought their position and it has remained static over the past year for the most part. I would not be surprised to see the Soros stake rise from here.

As I posted last week, I felt this buying was coming from current 5% owners. This activity brings confidence to new investors who will jump in based on new coverage or a trigger event. I don't think we escape the first quarter without one of the two events.

I am delighted that we have more than one huge buyer out there with perhaps some more appetite.

Astoria is a partnership that is willing to take major concentrated ownership positions in companies, almost as if they were buying the company -- which would be beyond their means here.

For example, note that over the years they have bought a 25% position in Eateries (EATS) a microcap Southwest restaurant chain which I also own. See the EATS thread on YAHOO for a post earlier today by me showing how they just keep buying when they like something. (This is not intended as a direct or indirect recommendation of EATS.)
