With all the articles posted to this thread, I'm a bit surprised no one posted the article about Siemens that appeared in yesterday's WSJ. It quoted Volker Jung, the head of networking at Siemens, as saying his firm has no intention of making a big acquisition or even merging with a partner. He referred to takeovers as a "waste of shareholder money" and also said, "We prefer teaming and partnerships to megamergers at overblown prices."

I guess we can lay those takeover rumours to rest once and for all.

I posted the article, but to the SSPIF thread.

That same article mentioned Siemens was planning to create a new company in the US and I'm curious how this will play out. Will the new company partner with NN and COMS? Or will it be formed in conjunction with its partners? I'm totally out in left field on the details but I'm definitely anxious to find out.

I've never for a moment thought Siemens would buy NN. They don't have US shares to do a pooling of interest and they don't have cash to do an outright purchase. I also don't expect an equity position as I'm quite sure Siemens wants more control than a minority position could give. Not sure where this leaves us, other than in the dark. :)
