"ALPS MD-1300: Personal Photo Studio"
FWIW, if anyone is interested, I just stole one of these off of uBid tonight for only $219. It is refurbished, but I suspect it will be good as new. They've been auctioning off a few of these every couple of days, and they've been going for $199 to $239. Bid early in the auction and you should be able to get one for the low ending bid.

I'd checked out a couple HP's with stunning capabilities, but decided to go with this based on Sean's glowing rec and everything I've read. I checked out a MD-1000 at a local Staples, and it is steps below the MD-1300, and they had it on a "blowout closeout special" for $269. So $219 for the MD-1300 looks incredible.

Here's what the uBid site said about the printer;

Alps Elect MD-1300 5PPM Dye Sub Color 600dpi Printer

It's the only desktop printer on the market that combines ALPS' proprietary Micro Dry™ ink with features of the dye sublimation printing process-a technology that delivers what you see in actual photographs. You'll notice colors that blend smoothly into each other and you won't have the abrupt color shifts typical of inkjet printers.
