El: Perfumania signs AltaVista marketing deal Reuters Story - February 11, 1999 13:48 MIAMI, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Perfume store chain and online retailer Perfumania Inc said Thursday it has tied the knot with search engine AltaVista and Modern Bride to help promote Perfumania's new Internet store. Perfumania said AltaVista, a leading service on the Internet, will help promote its store to a wide range of surfers. The marketing agreement with ModernBride.com will help Perfumania reach a larger audience of women online through newsletters and chat events. Modern Bride is the flagship publication of the Modern Bride Group. Thursday's deal with AltaVista, a division of Compaq Computer Corp is the second leading search engine Perfumania has teamed up with since launching its store February 1. On February 3, Perfumania said portal company Lycos Inc will promote the company's online retail on its network of sites. Company officials were not immediately available to give more details of the deal. In afternoon trade, Perfumania stocks were up 1 at 5-7/8.
