Sybase Inc. (SYBS) 9 1/8 +7/8: according to Reuters news, the CFO
of this relational database developer is comfortable with FY99 earnings
in the range of $0.20 to $0.26 a share, but sees the potential for an
industry slowdown in the second half of 1999; according to First Call,
SYBS is projected to earn $0.20 in 1999, compared to a loss of $0.23
in 1998; the CEO says that company would not be opposed to the sale of
the company, but not at the current valuation.....

That's why we have to stick with industry leaders like ORCL.
Great news for ORCL!

That's great news for ORCL. That means that were kicking their but and they have to bow out of the race. Go Oracle

Interesting comments from Sybase CFO re: " Sybase CFO said that he forsees possible industry slowdown in second half of 1999; CEO sees little improvement in earnings and margin; and possible sale if the price is right..." It looks a little bit he's hedging his bets about a bleak future and perhaps even waving the white flag. Sybase is on the same road to oblivion as some of Oracle's ERP competitors. No company in there right mind would possibly buy Sybase. Sayonara, baby!
