I swiitched from bull to bear fund in September, got the run up during the correction, but then let nearly half the profits drain away before switching to cash. Waited far to long before going long again, am now all cash.

I think the important thing is to not do it by feel. You have hard numbers where you'll reenter, you had hard numbers when you got out. That's the key, in my opinion.

As for being in cash now, and the idea that we may be losing some upside, I'll always remember a reply from Judy to a poster who was pissed because he had left the market at the top on the advice of Jerry Favors and was now pissed because Jerry never gave a signal to get back in, and he had missed most of the upside. Judy told him that what he was forgetting was that because he was in cash before the correction, he never had an opportunity to panic and sell at the bottom.
