...This is an earnings driven market and if we find the best earners we will have the best performers.. all the other stuff is just a lot of talk. I picked up #5 from next tuesday calendar February 16 plucked March 75's .. that's two retailers #3 and now #5.. looking for resurgence in retailers when these two report. .

A potential subscriber wrote last night and asked what was the need for earnings plays when traders usually use momentum. He thought they were superfluous and fundamental analysis was just unnecessary.

Then I got another letter from a trader who had trouble understanding the newsletter about 10 days ago.. I told him forget the facts and figures from the newsletter. Just take out the stocks and put them in your database and follow them as 'momentum plays'.. Well he did and now he wrote me that it worked. That's because the proximity of earnings date turns these fundamentally sound stocks into technical powerhouses and thats when your average trader takes notice. It's like giving you child cough medicine disguised as a frozen popsicle.. Don't explain its medicinal value, why bother? just let them enjoy the popsicle.

Well YUM was not up 13 points just on momentum, and even CNET would not have climbed today were it not for the surprise in its earnings report. NTBK, BVSN, FOX, all earnings related.. in fact the whole rally is really earnings related.. its like everyone is breathing a sigh of relief because earnings are really good after all and for all the doom and gloom forecasting on CNBC in the last few days.. major boos to you.
