Well,,its like a GERN now..those days are long goine when the news was brand new..The gap up was expected but not how high now its a different animal ..fighting back against really bad news

Nothing like a possible cure for cancer to capture investors' imaginations--stock moving higher as we speak. When people hear this news, it will not matter whether or not they are expecting a gap. It will gap because, quite simply, there will be a lot more buyers than sellers. This is not a rational response. It will be panic buying. The time to short is when reason returns, IMO.
