Gart Brothers sports bought out the Dave Cook Sporting Goods Company in Denver about 12 years ( ? ) ago. When they did they began spreading out over the Colorado area quickly. Now there are Gart Bros. stores in Vail, Grand Junction, Aspen, here in my town of Glenwood Springs and in lots of small ( 100k ) markets to the east of Colorado.

The Gart Sports Castle is the headquarters in Denver on Broadway and it is in this old majestic building and is 4 stories tall. Inside is a cornucopia of sporting goods. One time I needed a wheel for an old roller skate that my daughter owned. I drove 160 miles to get it and a pair of special cross country ski boots. After looking for about 10 minutes this old timer came back with the wheel and he had it filed in the back for over 10 years and remembered where it was. Cost me $2.25 for the wheel.

Every year Gart Brothers has a sale called "sniagrab" which by the way is bargains spelled backwards. It is a preseason sale for skiers and people come from 5 states around Colorado to be there for the opening morning because of the prices. They camp out for two days prior to the opening to be the first in line. It has become tradition if you are a skier in Colorado to attend the sniagrab sale.

Gart has maintained its company's image and has grown into the major retailer of sporting goods in this area. The stores are clean, well stocked and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Even with their stellar growth the company has still maintained a style of retailing where service is the key word.

They are a good company.

Hope this helps.

Bill
