WEEK ENDED FEB. 12
by Stockwatch business reporter
Spider Resources was reviewed in Forum Watch last week, moving into second
place this week. On Feb. 11, Spider released results from the first two
exploration pits at the Contendas site in Brazil. Four diamonds ranging in
size from 0.19 of a carat to 1.00 carat weighing a total of 1.66 carats
were recovered from the first pit, while eight diamonds ranging in size
from 0.30 of a carat to 1.06 carats weighing a total of 4.92 carats were
recovered (to date) from the second pit. The diamond processing plant is
currently operating at an average daily throughput of 5.42 tonnes per day.
According to the release, the results of the exploration program will be
used to guide the anticipated follow-up program which is designed to
determine the likelihood of locating in-situ primary sources of diamond in
the region.
Diamonds were definitely the flavour of the week, with Spider also tallying
a large number of posts. On Feb. 9, skeptyk posted some information
regarding an upcoming news release: "...sortex is up and running...stones
found: 16 pcs. ranging 0.5-2.5 carat, rare colors...draft NR prepared
sometime around last wk." KING MIDAS wrote: "Buckle up the seatbelts for a
ride in the new Spider... featuring a 4.27 engine....Yahoo!!!!!" The
Doctor, who has been quite bullish on Spider, wrote: "Quite an impressive
trade of roughly 600,000 today at 5... Very exiting! (sic)" Hopefully
dropping the 'c' was a typographical slip by the good Doctor and not a
Freudian one. In a subsequent post, he commented: "Have a look at what's
happening at WSP. This is an example of how NOT to develop a share
price..." The news release on Feb. 11 prompted a flurry of posts. BUC
BULLET had two questions: "Any predictions on where share price goes from
here? Any timeframe predictions?" The Doctor responded: "How about $1.15
within 2 weeks? I am a lousy guesser.....need at least a few days to curve,
but this is in fun." Commenting on some of the barbs directed at Winspear,
william wrote: "I don't understand the antipathy to WSP...I've had a long
time interest in SPQ and WSP...The success of one does not detract from the
other." In a subsequent post, The Doctor wrote: "It is much easier to see a
11X return on SPQ, as it needs to reach $5 to do this. On WSP at this time,
we would need to see over $400 to do the same." WillP briefly joined the
Spider discussion, indicating he would return when he had more information.
If he does, the Spider conference will probably gain in interest. Spider
finished the week at seven cents.
