re:In a CBS, Sun, Netscape, AOL deal the possibilities are endless.

Marvin, think about it. Netscape wasn't making any money. AOL makes only a paltry amount of money. CBS isn't all that great.

In reality, 0+0+0=0 but through the magic of Wall Street 0+0+0=Big $$$

TheStreet.com wrote a lengthy article critical of the AOL+NSCP+SUNW deal.

Hi Marvin - Here is another view point regarding CBS....From what I can tell, CBS needs to do something quickly and BIG to top the rest of the current industry deals. A CBS, SUNW, Netscape and AOL deal IMO is too far out in left field (too many parties involved)....but you never really know.

Red Herring Online
February 10, 1999

On February 4, CBS (CBS) chief executive Mel Karmizan announced that he would consider a public offering of CBS Internet assets, which primarily consist of a 38 percent stake in MarketWatch.com (MKTW) and 12 percent of SportsLine USA (SPLN).

"The objective is to create a stock with an Internet-rich valuation, which CBS could then use to acquire other Internet properties.

That's a weak plan...."

I wonder if Sunw's set top box and Jini could play any role with CBS's Internet plans??
